Packing list. Weather. Will it be hot, warm, cold, rainy?? This is so hard but since we will have access to a washing machine in Paris and London maybe that will help cut down what we bring. Because we will be visiting churches I'll bring over the knee length shorts for my husband and capri pants and short sleeve tops for me. As of now in case of rain torn between packing a small umbrella or the rain ponchos that I brought to Italy and used once while in Venice. Light weight and folded into tiny little squares. I will bring a pair of light weight bedroom slippers as the ones provided by hotels were much too large for me and kept slipping off my feet. My best purchase some years ago-a black anti theft cross body bag. I think Spain will be warmer than France or England. Maybe light weight fleece jackets which we'd wear on the plane which would help for cooler weather? Some of the places we've booked to stay have a pool so will pack swim wear. Lots of mix and match items. For our dinner at Jules Verne in Paris a jacket is required for men so will pack that for my husband and a dressy top and skirt or pants for myself. I'm also debating bringing our hiking poles. We originally got these for our trip to Peru/Machu Picchu but we brought them with us on our 2023 trip to Italy. They were used for some sightseeing like the Colosseum, Roman Forum where the walkways are rough and/or uneven.
Items for our apartment stays. We will do a grocery run when we first arrive in Paris and in London. Mainly for breakfast items (we will also go out for breakfast in Paris and London) like eggs, bread for toast, butter, snacks/fruit, drinks like beer/wine/soda/water. Will I need a corkscrew for our wine?? I will bring packets of pancake mix and a small container of syrup. Packets of sugar, salt, pepper. I guess I need to inquire about the kind of coffee maker we'll have in the apartments so I know if it would be possible to bring our own coffee from home. Will there be CoffeeMate in Paris and/or London? So many questions.
I still have my little notebooks for Spain, Paris, and London. I just had to revise them for this trip updating open/close hours of attractions, costs of tickets for sightseeing, and much more.
Should we get a covid booster before our trip? I'll ask when I see my doctor before our trip. We decided to not only get a covid booster but the RSV shot also. Not taking any chances because you never know.
A new thing we had to do is fill out an application on line for our entry into the UK. It's called the Electronic Travel Authorization. There's a website where you can apply. The cost was $22.11 for each of us and we both get approved in a matter of minutes. The approval is linked to our passports but I print out copies of our approvals just to be on the safe side.
I book train tickets on RENFE to go from Madrid to Toledo the day we arrive-8/21/2025. From the airport we have to get to Atocha train station. I book our tickets for 12:15 pm figuring that's enough time since we land in Madrid at 9:35 am. Cost $62.45 for us both. These are round trip tickets since we will return to Madrid on 8/23/2025.
I book our flight on IBERIA from Madrid to Paris/Orly in order for us to get to Bayeux. Our flight is IBERIA 0571 departing Madrid at 9:55 am and arriving in Paris at 11:55 am for 08/28/2025. Cost which includes 1 checked bag is 106.80€ each. Seat selection is another 10.00€ each.
I also book our train tickets on SNCF to get to Bayeux. From Paris/Orly we need to get to train station St. Lazare. I book our tickets for 3:58 pm figuring that gives us enough time to go from the airport to the train station. Cost $105.26. These are round trip tickets since we return to Paris/St. Lazare on 08/31/2025.
I book some things before we leave per advice from Trip Advisor forums for Spain, France, and the UK/England. Like tours, museum entries. I make reservations for most dinners.
I think my preparations are done.
