8/22/2025 First order of business. Breakfast. On the tables is a menu where you can order eggs how you want, bacon, etc. There's also a huge buffet of items. Juices, cereals, pastries, meats, cheeses. I decide to order eggs over easy. I explain that I want to yolk to still be runny. What I end up with are fried eggs and the yolk is well done-not runny. After a few attempts I gave up.

Toledo Cathedral. Primarily Gothic. Elaborate wrought iron work. Lavish wood carvings. Stained glass. High altar-wall of scenes from the life of Christ. Assumption of Mary in the center with 6 angels. We get a taxi. Cost 6.75€ It's 10:30 am. We get our tickets across the street. Cost reduced/senior amount 16.00€/$18.79 for both of us. The Cathedral is a beautiful as it was so many years ago. We spent 90 minutes here. At the gift shop where we bought our admission tickets I ended up buying the Crusades souvenir knife/letter opener. Cost 11€/$12.83

Our next stop is to walk to the Alcazar but I'm not sure where it is. I ask at the taxi line near the main plaza to take us there but he says it's just a short walk around the corner. I think I can see it but it looks far away. We start walking but can't seem to figure out how to get there. It's very hot and we're getting tired. We decide to return to the main plaza and ask another taxi to take us. This time the taxi driver tells us it's the building right around the corner. All I see is a building with the sign Museo Del Ejercito. I walk up the steps to ask and see that this is Alcazar! No wonder the first taxi driver wouldn't take us. It's literally steps away from the taxi area. We get tickets. Cost 10.00€/$11.67 Military history of Spain from 1492 to the 20th century. Spanish military collections of armor, uniforms, cannons, guns, and more. Frankly I'm not that impressed with this museum as I'm just not into weapons, etc. We spent a bit over 60 minutes here. I also bought a few postcards. Cost??

I look at our map and figure it's too far to walk from here to the El Greco Museum so we get a taxi. Cost 9.10€/$10.62 Surprised there is no admission charge. But I'm disappointed in this also as I expected to see more paintings. This museum is really the house he lived in when he was in Toledo. After the fact I read the pamphlet I took as we left. It seems there was more to Greco's house/property than I saw. So that's on me but by the time we were here I was so tired and it was so very hot. Richard had no interest as he's feeling a bit under the weather.

Taberna Skala. Dinner. Taxi there from town Cost 6.85€ We were both disappointed in this place. There was little charm. Service was ok. Richard was a bit upset that there was no menu in English. I used my camera translate app as best I could. We finally decided on sangria and For food Richard went with the gazpacho soup and I also ordered that. When it came it was not as expected. It was just a puree. I was expecting some chunks of tomatoes, celery, etc. It really was tasteless. Then the skala potatoes were drenched in some kind of white sauce when the translation said the sauce would be pink? Tasteless also-no hints of garlic or parsley. Good thing we ordered half portion of the potatoes. Maybe other items on the menu would have been better?? We'll never know. Taxi back to our hotel. Cost 7.00€

We finish packing as tomorrow we head back to Madrid. Toledo has been nice. Our hotel was nice but I think that we would have been better with a place right in town. Taxis tend to get pricey and add up after a while. In reality we probably could have just skipped Toledo and added the 2 nights to Madrid. But hindsight is 20 20 they say.
