Tapestry Museum. UNESCO World Heritage Site. Believed to be made by attendants of Matilda of Flanders, wife of William the Conqueror. Cost for us both 24€/ This museum will be closed for renovations effective 9/1/2025 so we're lucky we are able to see this famous tapestry. This tapestry is a masterpiece of the 11th century and tells the story of the events surrounding the conquest of England by the Duke of Normandy. It begins in 1064 when Edward the Confessor, King of England, instructs his brother-in-law Harold to travel to Normandy in order to offer his cousin William the succession to the English throne. However when Edward dies Harold is made the next king of England, not William. Although the end of the embroidery is missing the story ends with the Battle of Hastings in 1066. There are 58 scenes. 25 scenes take place in France. 33 scenes take place in England. 10 scenes are dedicated to the Battle of Hastings. We get free audioguides that describe each scene. Excellent commentary on the scenes. Amazing piece of art! I don't have any pictures so I'm thinking taking photos of the tapestry wasn't allowed?? I do buy several postcards. There was a mix up in calling for a taxi to pick us up here to take us to the Cathedral. Surprise. The manager of the museum offered to drive us. How nice.

Notre-Dame de Bayeux/Cathedral. Probably the original home of the famous tapestry. Norman-Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Free admission. Lots of beautiful stained glass.

Hot tub time. I have decided to check out the pool. Richard does not come with me. It's kind of too cold to swim in the pool but there is a hot tub. I get a bathrobe from reception and spend time in the hot tub. Very relaxing!

Le Normandie. Dinner. Our reservation is for 7:00 pm. Taxi from our hotel. Cost This is a cute place. Great service. Excellent food. Richard gets water and I get a glass of cider. I ordered Menu La Normande-appetizer, entree, and dessert. For my appetizer I picked oysters which I shared with Richard. Entree-chicken supreme with cider cream sauce and mushrooms with mashed potatoes. Dessert-apple crumble with ice cream. Richard chose the classic burger that came with fries. Cost 69.40€/$81.27 Taxi back to our hotel. Cost 10.00€/$11.71
