9/5/2025 I'm up early because my train to Giverny leaves at 8:14 am. No time for breakfast today. Uber to St. Lazare train station. Cost 17.96€/$ There's a MacDonald's here but it's closed. My train departs at 8:14 am. Scheduled to arrive at Vernon 9:00 am. Platform 22. Cost one way tickets for 2 even though it's just me going was 35.20€/$

Vernon. From here I need to take a shuttle that will get me closer to Giverny. Shuttle meets every train from Paris. Shuttle round trip ticket cost 10€ cash. Then I need to walk from the shuttle drop off point to the entrance for Giverny.

Giverny. Takes me around 15 minutes to walk to Giverny/Monet's home. Water garden is first. Weeping willows. Bamboo. Pond with water lilies. Japanese Bridge. Benches placed along the path to sit/take a break. Grounds are filled with beautiful flowers, trees....

Monet's home. Used as studio also. I must admit that his home was larger than I thought it would be. Filled with art. Monet's and some others like Renoir. Rooms are very colorful. Yellow, blue, pink, etc. Many fireplaces with lovely mantels. View from windows look to a pretty garden area. Monet lived in this house for 40+ years. Had 8 children. Gift shop had lots of nice items. I bought an eyeglass case, 2 small Monet prints/water lilies for my bathroom, a small jar of Giverny honey, some postcards. Cost

As I'm walking back to catch the shuttle back to Vernon I decided to stop at a cafe for a drink. Glass of lemonade. Cost 4.80€ cash. I was hot and thirsty.
I get back to the shuttle point and the bus is there but I'm one of the first to arrive. Within a few minutes more arrive and we head back to Vernon. At the train station I bought my return ticket to Paris. I arrive back in Paris at Uber back to the apartment. Cost 15.94€/$ It's around 3:30 pm.

Grand Brasserie. Dinner reservation originally was for 8:15 pm but I've changed it to 7:00 pm. Better for Richard. Uber to the restaurant. Cost 16.20€/$ We're a bit early and Bofinger is right across the street so I decide to take a look. I check out their menu. Even though the place looks really nice I'm glad we went with this smaller spot for our meal. Cozy and cute. Drinks-Sprite for Richard and a nice cosmopolitan for me. Bread basket. Steak with fries for Richard. Duck breast with gratin potatoes for me. Both of us were very happy with our choices. Dessert-I got the profiteroles and shared with my husband. It was yummy! Service was excellent and the food was fantastic. Cost 91.00€/$ Uber back to the apartment. Cost 13.73€/$

Tomorrow is a big day! Versailles. And Richard has decided to come with me! I've done research and we can use a wheelchair for the palace and there's golf carts to rent for the gardens.
