9/7/2025 Breakfast, Sacre Coeur, dinner-Pizzeria Arrivederci

9/7/2025  Breakfast at the apartment.  Egg over easy/medium, toast, coffee.   Late start to the day. It's almost 12:00 pm when we are ready to go.  Uber to Sacre Coeur.  Cost 17.99€/$21.00  We are not  dropped off right at the church like I expected but at a distance down the street.  But we're right near a souvenir shop so this may be a good thing.  I bought a tote bag, 2 T shirts, magnets, souvenir license plate, pins.  Cost 62.40€/$72.83   I really lucked out even though we ended up walking up this street for around 10 minutes to get to Sacre Coeur.

Sacre Coeur.  Located atop Butte Montmartre/summit of Montmartre, Paris's highest point.    Panoramic views of the city.  White travertine stone.  Famous mosaic of Christ in Majesty.  Romano-Byzantine architecture.  Free admission.  Can climb dome for a fee.  At the start of the Franco Prussian War in 1870 2 Catholic businessmen made a religious vow to build a  church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Christ should France be spared the Prussian onslaught.  They both lived to see Paris saved from invasion despite the war and a lengthy siege and the start of what is the Sacre Coeur basilica.  The basilica was completed in 1914 but wasn't consecrated until 1919 when France was victorious.  Lots of side chapels, beautiful stained glass.  So glad we came.  I did buy some souvenirs.  Bookmark, souvenir coin, and a medal of Christ.  Cost 10.50€   There was more for the day on my schedule but Richard is looking tired and not in a mind set for more sightseeing so I decided to go back to our apartment.  We have spent 1 1/2 hours at Sacre Coeur.  We walk around before we spot a taxi.  Taxi back to the apartment.  Cost 27.10€/$31.63   We're back by 3:00 pm.

Pizza Arrivederci.  Uber from our place.  Cost 18.97€/$22.14  This place is on my dinner list because of its pizza reviews.  Our reservation is for 7:30 pm.  There is no menu but you scan your phone and the menu pops up on your phone.  Orangina for Richard and sangria Royale for me.  We ordered the margherita pizza extra crispy and it was yummy.  Thin crust.  Sauce and cheese balanced.  Also we had a side salad that we shared.  Dessert-tiramisu for me and pistachios for Richard.   Excellent friendly service.  Awesome food.  Cost63.00€/$73.53    Uber back to the apartment.  Cost 10.94€/$12.77
