9/21/2025 Today we're doing Sunday roast. I have made a reservation for us. I don't have any pictures for breakfast so I'm not sure if we ate or not? We have decided to take the tube. It's just so super easy. We took the Piccadilly Line to Holborn stop. To exit to the street we had to take an escalator from the tube platform up.

Ship Tavern. This is a historic pub established in 1549 and known for its traditional food, real ales, and cozy wood-paneled interior with a nautical theme. Our reservation is for 1:30 pm. I have requested the Oak Room. Besides the upstairs Oak Room there is a more casual room downstairs. Walked here from the Holborn Station. Not too bad/far. We arrived a bit early. The Oak Room is located upstairs and the guy told us we could be seated downstairs or we'd have to wait until our reservation time. We decided to wait. We waited outside for a short time and when we returned we got seated at a nice table. Next to us was a long table that must have had maybe 20 people! It's a full house in the Oak Room. Drinks-Tavern Bloody Mary for me and for Richard I'm not sure but I think it was Fever Tree-which is tonic water-with lemon. I ordered a Smithfield Roast and selected the Hereford Beef Sirloin. It came with duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, honey glazed roots, creamed leeks, spiced apple & red cabbage with a side jug of Tavern gravy. Richard got the Pan-Seared Cod Fillet which came with asparagus, minted garden peas, buttered crushed new potatoes, lemon & dill Hollandaise. I was ok with my choice but not over the moon about it and probably would not do a Sunday roast ever again. Just too much food and I didn't care for the beef. Too much fat for me. I prefer very lean cuts of beef. Because of that large group of 20 we waited a bit over an hour before our meals were served. Dessert. I had to get the Kraken Rum Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was very good and probably a 1000 calories! Richard made the smart choice and got a dish of ice cream but I forgot what flavor. Cost 102.15£/$138.56 By the time we finished it was almost 4:00 pm and too late to go to the British Museum. Another day of poor planning on my part.

I was planning to go to the British Museum-which is not far from our lunch spot-after our Sunday lunch but we didn't finish at the Ship Tavern until almost 4:00 pm and the museum closes at 5:30 pm so we just decided to return to the apartment. Walked to Holborn Station. We took the tube back. Piccadilly Line to Earl's Court Station. Stopped at PAUL to get an almond croissant for tomorrow's breakfast but they were all gone so I settled for a cranberry almond muffin. Richard didn't want anything. Total cost for the tube today 5.60£/$7.60 for each of us.

Dinner was light. Just soup. I did some research on my computer about the National Gallery which is on tomorrow's agenda. We're both tired and still not feeling back to normal so this is slowing down our sightseeing. Today we walked ? Nothing showed on my pedometer app. Just like nothing showed for yesterday!
