9/10/2025 No time for breakfast. We have an early train to catch to get back to Paris. Most trains from Chartres to Paris have been cancelled due to September 10th protests in Paris. I manage to book us the 8:05 am train back to Paris.

Reception calls for a taxi and we're told to meet the taxi by Cafe Blue. I stress that our train is scheduled to depart at 8:05 am. We walk to the meet point and wait for our taxi but it never shows. Uber can't get us a car in time to make the train. Finally the taxi arrives. Cost ? We get to the Chartres Train Station at 8:02 am! Cost 40.60€/$50.06 Rushing like crazy. We have to take the tunnel to the other side for our platform. Our platform is #2.
There's people here. Going to Paris I ask? Yes. Then I notice the board. Train delayed. New time 8:25 am! OMG! We can breathe.

Arrived at Gare de Montparnasse Train Station at 9:20 am. First taxi will not take credit card and wants 46€!! I say no thanks and bye. He quickly leaves just as 2 police officers come up to me and ask if there's a problem. I say we're fine. I found an uber dropping people off. I ask him about taking us to our apartment. He says it's near the area of protests but will do it for 35€ cash off the books. What to do? I say ok. I did pay 27.05€ to get here on 9/9. 35 is better than 46! During the ride we did not see any active protests.
Stop at Chez Meunier and got 2 sugar doughnuts/beignets. Cost 7.80€ Breakfast back at the apartment.
Eiffel Tower. Wrought iron lattice tower built for the 1889 World's Fair to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. Designed by Gustave Eiffel. It's 1083' tall and is one of the world's most recognizable landmarks. Has 3 levels with restaurants, shops, and observation decks. Panoramic views of the city.
I have bought tickets to the summit/top floor by lifts for us for today at 1:30 pm. Cost for both of us 72.20€/$84.26 We took Uber to get to the Eiffel Tower. Cost 14.90€/$17.56 We arrived a bit early but we were allowed to enter and to go through security. We took the lift to the 2nd floor. Took 1 minute 55 seconds. Lovely views. Got out. Another line. Lift to the top. Took 1 minute 41 seconds. Amazing views of the city.

Views from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Even though it was overcast and not sunny the views were incredible. There is a small set of stairs to go up even further. Richard did not do this but I did. Very windy. I did buy some souvenirs. Postcards and eau de perfume. Cost? We spent almost 2 hours here.

La Mere de Famille. I decided to check out this chocolate store near our apartment. It's full of tempting chocolates. I can pick what I want or buy a boxed item. I decide to get a small box of assorted chocolates. Cost 34.50€/$40.65
Midi 12. Reservation is for 7:30 pm. Uber to the restaurant. Cost 13.48€/$15.84 I picked this place because it's known for its crepes and galettes. Galettes-100% organic buckwheat. Inside and outside seating. Drinks-Lemonade for Richard and hot chocolate for me. It's a chilly rainy night. Complimentary appetizer but can't remember what it was. We both ordered the galette gambas. This was a galette surprisingly filled with veggies and topped with large marinated and grilled tiger prawns. It was amazing. Each bite was wonderful. It came with a small salad of greens. For dessert I had to get the crepe Suzette. I videoed the flambéing of it. It was so good. Richard got the gourmet crepe of the day which was several kinds of berries on top of yummy vanilla chantilly/which is like whipped cream. I tasted his and it was better than mine in my opinion. Cost 64.50€/$75.99 Service was outstanding and the food was super. Can definitely recommend and would return. Uber back to the apartment. Cost 12.22€/$14.36

Tomorrow more Monet. Orangerie Museum. Richard said he would come with me. It's been a good day. We did 1.88 miles today.
