8/31/2025 Breakfast, train Bayeux to Paris, Paris apartment, groceries-Franprix, dinner-Jules Verne/Eiffel Tower

8/31/2025  Breakfast  At our hotel.  Buffet style.  Lots of food.  Breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, scrambled eggs,  sausages, juices, crepes,  cereals, yogurt, and much more.  I have juice, coffee, fruit, and toast.  I know Richard had juice and 2 croissants but not what else he had.  Cost for the 2 of us.  Check out.  We only have to pay for our breakfast.

Taxi to train station.  Cost 10.00€/$11.71  Since this is a small station we have no trouble locating our platform and then getting on the train.  We make sure to sit close by our luggage near the exit doors.  Comfortable seats, some nice scenery.  A pleasant journey but we are both exhausted!  We're just too old for all this schlepping around.

We are tired!

We arrived at the Paris/St. Lazare train station around 2:00 pm.  Taxi from here to our apartment.  Cost 26.00€/$30.45

Paris apartment.  16 Rue Rambuteau.  3rd arrondissement.  Booked this-Le Beau Marais-with booking.com.  We will stay here from 8/31-913/2025.  Cost for 13 nights.  I text the guy who will meet us at the apartment to help us settle in.  When we pull up Ben is waiting for us.  Ben gives us 2 sets of keys.  He shows us how to enter the building from the street.  Another door into a large area.  Walk up some stairs to where the elevator is.  It's very tiny.  Big enough for 2 people but not us, Ben, and our luggage.  We make several trips.  Then there's a key/green to enter small hallway where our apartment is.  Opale.  Another key to get in our apartment.  It's cute and looks just like the on line pictures.  It's 1 bedroom, 1 bath.  Ben explains the stove, the dishwasher, the washer.  Everything's in French!

Franprix.  Groceries.  Searching on my computer I find that there's a grocery store on our street very close to the apartment.  Richard stays at the apartment while I head out to pick up some things for breakfasts at the apartment.  This is a medium size store but well stocked with paper products, produce, eggs, breads, and lots more.  I bought eggs-6 pack, bread for toast, butter, cheese, Sprite, milk, and orange juice.

Jules Verne.  Dinner.  I booked this several months ago.  Our reservation is for 8:15 pm.  While very pricey it's also hard to get a reservation.  You have to prepay the dinner.  Cost 590.00€/$680.33  I know this is really costly but the restaurant is located on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower and it's a splurge for us.  There's a private entrance for the dinner guests.  Dorie had helped me set up an Uber account.  Uber from our apartment to the restaurant.  Cost 27.74€/$    We're met by staff and escorted to the private entrance. Unfortunately there's a dress code so I had to pack a jacket for Richard.    Everyone here is dressed up.  Elegant.  This is a posh place.  Incredible views.  We each had a glass of wine with dinner which is extra.  Cost 106.00€/$124.43  For 2 glasses of wine!  Set menu of 5 courses.  As a surprise we got a treat for my 80th birthday and another for our 57th anniversary.  Lit candles in both.  Sorbet.  Some kind of berry flavor.  Tasty.  I was able to view the sunset.  The Eiffel Tower lit up.  The twinkle lights several times.  One of the staff brought me to the 2nd level viewing platform area.  I bought an Eiffel Tower snow globe.  Cost  Outstanding service.  Fantastic food.  Taxi back to our apartment.  Cost

Back at our apartment we reflect on what a beautiful evening it's been.  I just wish Richard was feeling better.  Tomorrow Notre Dame!

9/1/2025 Concierge, Saint Chapelle, Notre Dame, dinner-Cafe des Musees

Breakfast.  I have no pictures so I'm assuming we didn't have breakfast as our timed entry was for 10:30 am.  Uber to Sainte Chapell...
