8/23/2025 Breakfast. This time I ask for an omelet with tomato and cheese. I also end up with a slice of ham, a croissant, a slice of toast, fruit, and coffee. The buffet looks as good as it did yesterday. Richard makes himself a breakfast sandwich of ham and cheeses which seems to be a very European type of breakfast and why these buffets always have meats, cheeses, etc. Check out is easy. Toledo train station. Our Renfe tickets are for 12:30 pm arriving Madrid 1:05 pm. Cost 22.20€/$31.23 for the both of us. There is a gift shop at the train station and a cafe. I bought a coffee mug and a booklet on Toledo at the gift store. Cost 16.00€/$18.79

Atocha train station/Madrid. While here I bought some bars of soap from The Body Shop. Cost 5.00€/$5.87 From here we take a taxi to our hotel. Cost 6.70€

Hotel Emperador. We will stay here 8/23-8/28/2025, 5 nights. Cost 792€/$922.68 Check in is easy. We have a security card we need to use for the elevator to get to our floor. We're in room 909. The room is fine and has a nice view. We unpack and decide to check out the pool. The pool is on the roof top. It's a good size. Plenty of seating. There's also a bar/cafe of sorts. Pool is open from 10:00 am-9:00 pm. We spend around an hour at the pool just recharging/relaxing. It's hot and sunny.

Hard Rock Shop. Taxi from our hotel to Hard Rock. Cost 11.50€/$13.51 As luck would have it the Pandora store is right here. I go there first and buy the Spain charm. Cost 59€/$69.30. Next stop-Hard Rock. My plan was to go to the Hard Rock for dinner and also to pick up some souvenirs from the shop. I get shot glasses and a T shirt. Cost 77.35€/$90.85 But the girl in the shop tells me that the cafe has been closed for 5 years! She writes down a place we can go to for dinner. Taxi to Hyatt Centric Gran Via. Cost 9.55€/$11.22

El Jardin de Diana. Dinner. Located in the Hyatt hotel. This is a roof top bar with great city views. Signature cocktails, bar food. We have no reservation so we waited around 5-10 minutes for a table. It's very busy and it's a large area. Drinks-Richard gets a Sprite and I ordered the Samba-rum, cachaca, lime, pineapple, mango, and agave nectar. It was yummy! Food-we ordered the mini cheeseburgers plus 1 so we'd get 4. Comes with chips. No fries on the menu which was disappointing. Cost 50.00€/$58.73 Taxi back to our hotel. Cost 5.80€/$6.81

Back at our hotel Richard decides not to go with me to Avila tomorrow. He's just not feeling up to it. Pretty night views from our room. Not much walking today. Only 1.66 miles.
