9/13/2025 Our last breakfast in Paris. Croissant for Richard and a sugar donut/beignet for see. Tea and coffee. One last look to make sure we haven't left anything behind. Bittersweet to leave. This place was in such a great location. Uber to Gare du Nord. Cost 11.18€/$13.14 We left around 8:30 am.

Gare du Nord/Eurostar. Adieu Paris. We have to walk just a little ways from our Uber drop off. Eurostar ticket cost $132.00. Our train is scheduled to depart at 11:02 am. Comfortable journey.

St. Pancras International/Eurostar. We arrived in London at 12:30 pm. Now we will take a train to Dover Priory. Southeastern. Cost 36.60£/$50.05 Our train departs at 2:07 pm. I'm thirsty and there's a Starbucks. I got a small hot coffee for Richard and an iced coffee for me. Cost 9.80€/$13.31 So refreshing. We take the lift to where our platform #12 is located for our train to Dover. The information sign for our train tells us we need to sit in the first 8, maybe 6 coaches?? St. Pancras is huge. Wish I had more time to check it out.

Dover. Coastal town in southeastern county of Kent. Major port for ferries to Calais in France. Built to repel invasions from across the English Channel. Known for the medieval Dover Castle and the iconic White Cliffs of Dover which are England's closest point to continental Europe. River Dour. We get a taxi to go to our hotel. Cost 7.60£/$10.32

Best Western Premier Dover Marina Hotel & Spa. Booked for 2 nights 9/13-9/15/2025. Cost 208.98£/$283.90 Our room is huge! Much better than I expected. Really nice. I set up my computer so I can check my mail, etc. So disappointed. I received an email from Dover Sea Safari that our White Cliffs of Dover boat tour for tomorrow has been cancelled due to unsafe weather. I can't reschedule so I asked for a refund which I will ultimately get. This is such a bummer. This is the one thing Richard was really excited about and the only reason we booked nights in Dover.

Il Rustico. Dinner. We walked from our hotel. It's not far but it's cold and very windy. Part of the way is through a tunnel so some respite from the awful weather. This place is really cosy. Warm and welcoming. Tea for me and ginger ale for Richard. We ordered a mixed green salad to share. I got the Rigatoni Arrabbiata and Richard got the Rigatoni con Salsiccia. Food was hot and pasta was al dente. Portion was filling. Service was spot on. Cost 43.87£/$59.60

Tomorrow we will visit Dover Castle since our boat trip got cancelled. Even though this was a travel day we logged 2.28 miles.
