8/25/2025 Breakfast. I've decided to go to Zenith Brunch, a place I had read about on Trip Advisor. It got good reviews. Taxi from our hotel. Cost 7.00€/$8.22 Taxi driver drops us off and says this is as close as he can get but he doesn't give us a clear idea of where we're supposed to go-which street-to find Zenith. Very frustrating but we eventually find it. Cute place. Good service. Richard is still not feeling that great and doesn't want a big breakfast so he just orders toast and tea. Cappuccino for me was good. I ordered the bagel which came slathered with not cream cheese but creme fraîche. I did not care for that at all. Very disappointed. Cost 15.50€/$18.20 Taxi to Prado. Prado. Timed entry 10:15 am. No pictures allowed. We get a booklet of the floor plan of the museum. Cost reduced senior rate 15.00€/$17.36 No way to see it all. Paintings by Goya, Sorolla, Raphael, Reubens, Velazquez, El Greco, Caravaggio We decide to take a break at the cafe. Richard doesn't want anything. Water and fruit. Cost 8.70€/$10.22 The fruit was very tasty. Gift shop. I bought some postcards and a small change purse. Cost 25.80€/$30.30 We have spent almost 4 hours here.

Retiro Park. Supposedly walkable from Prado. But it's a very hot day. We finally get to the park. Not a short walk at all. Don't know where the small lake is where you can rent rowboats. There's no shade. Richard and I are wilting under this relentless sun. We're too tired to keep on looking so we decided to call it quits and return to our hotel. Taxi back to hotel. Cost 8.45€/$9.92

Pool time. It's just me in the pool. Richard is on a lounger in the shade. He has decided being in the pool yesterday is what made him sick.
Botin. Dinner. I had make reservations before we left home for our trip. This is the oldest restaurant in the world and is a very popular place for dinner. Reservations are a must. Taxi from our hotel. Cost?? I had requested clear seating and that's just where our table was. Right by the entrance to the cellar. I did go down into the cellar. Bottles and bottles of really old wine. A bit spooky. We both ordered the roast chicken with vegetables. Richard had a sprite and I had a glass of sangria. Water for the table. Dessert-cheesecake/grandma's recipe. Excellent service. Amazing food. Chicken was tender and moist-perfectly cooked. Vegetables were al center the way we like them. That cheesecake was great. Cost 80.00€/$93.96 Taxi back to our hotel. Cost 8.15€/$9.57

Back at our hotel we go over to the
pharmacy that's right nearby and get some OTC meds for Richard. Hope they help. Cost 13.95€/$16.38 Tomorrow we go to Segovia. Today we walked 3.12 miles.
